Making a Swift entry

Swift Caravans from Hull recently approached VWM Ltd for a new Cosmec CNC router to introduce to its already advanced manufacturing facility.

The Swift Group has long established ties with Andy Maz of VWM and its latest enquiry included some very specific requirements. The desired machine had to have a twin table with moving gantry, which fitted with Cosmec’s NR range of routers, but the request was for two 3200 X 1600mm tables with a 1mt gap between for ease of operation. In addition, the machine had to have twin heads, liquid cooled for higher output, complete with tool changers. Swift run several CNC models with NUM controllers and wanted this to be included in the new model as well. Andy Maz produced an estimate including the various extras designed and an order was placed immediately. ‘We believe that the order was won from our competitors by two major factors,’ says Andy Maz. ‘Number one was the commitment of VWM and also the infrastructure of the company.’ ‘We employ many factory-trained engineers and the support side is second to none, Secondly we gave Swift what they wanted, as many people will only give the customer what he has got to sell, not what he needs.’ The machine has been in full production for four months now and Swift states that they are very happy with the performance and output it has obtained, cutting at much higher speeds than anticipated. The company has accordingly placed an order for a second machine with the same specification as the first.
