Another new VWM Technos 26 CNC Machining Centre has big impact in Leeds |

Seacroft Chair frame’s of Leeds West Yorkshire have recently purchased a new Technos 26 CNC router from VWM Ltd this new machine from VWM launched last October is a entry level machine to run in-line with their Cosmec range of CNC routers.
Seacroft Chair Frames of Leeds who have long established tie’s with VWM purchased their fist CNC router from VWM over 3 years ago having bought a very small Wadkin machine which served their purpose very well as the machine was very low cost and enabled them to get a foot hold in a very competitive market.
Seeing that greater production levels could be achieved and much greater tolerance with a CNC machine Managing Director Alan Walton thought it was time to upgrade to a bigger new machine so the natural choice was to go back to the company who supplied the original one so product specialist Andy Maz was drafted in to look at their needs.
The first thing we decided to do was to look at what the customer required so we looked at his production in full it was also mentioned that he may want to do some sub-contract work as the new machine was much faster then the old one which proved to be a good choice as a weeks production is now produced in 2 days.
The machine best suited to their needs was our new Technos 26 machining centre which VWM are sole agents for, the machine it is a full 8x4 machine as in the head and drills will fully machine a 8x4 sheet which many of our competitors cannot achieve in the price bracket of this machine we also have a bed size available of 10x5 (others upon request) the machine can be supplied with a pod system or as Seacroft opted for a matrix table was the best machine suited to their production need’s.
Standard on the machine is a 5 position tool changer (12 is an optional) 10 vertical drills all independent of each other with 2 double horizontal drill’s in X and Y axis rapid movements of the machine are 60 mt/p/min which is essential in today’s production environment’s the X axis movement is by circulating ball nut which gives high performance along with accuracy pop up reference stops are standard on both working areas and the machine is also a tandem load version which will allow components to be loaded and un-loaded whilst machine is still in operation.
The operating system is a full CNC with industrial PC front end all servo components are the highest quality Mitsubishi electronics, which have a excellent track record in CNC systems.
The Technos is fully capable of being interfaced with LICOM software as all machines that VWM have sold so far have been sold with a software package from LICOM.
The Technos has been very successful for us as it’s in a very competitive market place but is well under our competitors price bracket we have not actively marketed the machine but have 4 installations in the north west all working with high production levels so we feel the main launch for the machine will be WOODMEX 2004 (stand number 18230) where we will have a machine on full demonstration with software also people will be able to see the excellent construction of the machine and the highest quality CNC systems adopted on this machine if however customer’s would like to visit VWM for a demonstration there is a machine on constant display for customers to see the machine in full operation.
