New Casolin Astra 500 for Michael James quality kitchens
Michael James bespoke kitchens were looking to increase productivity and accuracy when cutting panels for their custom kitchen manufacturing business, and looked at various panelsaws on the market but decided to stay with their existing supplier VWM and upgrade to the new Casolin ASTRA 500 Panelsaw.
The choice of machine was simple as they needed a very robust machine (Casolin weighing in at 1.4t) they needed a large blade diameter for cutting solid wood, and with Casolin offering 550mm giving a depth of cut of 205mm the choice was easy, another major requirement was to have full axis control to all movements to increase accuracy and also speed up the cutting of components. VWM gave them the new Astra 500 with a double cross slide to cope with “jumbo sheets” full axis controls to the blade tilt, height and motorized fence, electronic position of the scoring saw complete with auto position so the unit only comes through the table when activated and the patented parallelogram table which allows the cross cut table to be tilted but still retain full support of the panel.
The machine was delivered and installed all by the VWM team in the same day to minimize disruption to production and is now in full production.
