2021 – Our 40th Year in Business!

When we look back at 2020, we’re incredibly thankful that, despite the difficult circumstances it brought, it was still a successful year for us. With the support of new and existing customers, we were able to keep our doors “open” and continued to provide our services, with no team members lost and great new relationships gained! 

One month into 2021, the year looks to be off to a good start for us, with positive sales figures for both new and used machines in our range. We’re also pleased to report that, thus far, our services have been unaffected by Brexit, with shipments arriving with us on site with little complication. 

2021 – What’s on the cards? 

As our year-end approaches this April, we’ll be running our annual promotion and offering an extensive range of stock at discounted prices, so that’s definitely something to look forward to! 

This year will also see VWM turn the big 4-0! To celebrate, we’ll be launching a new and improved website, and we might even have a bit of cake and bubbly in the office (restrictions permitting). 

40 years in business… Where did it begin?

Having gained valuable experience as a Service Engineer for well-established machinery manufacturer and industry leader, Wadkin, Bill Varey (our Managing Director) decided to set out on his own and form VWM Woodworking back in March 1981. Initially servicing the woodworking industry, VWM later branched out into machinery sales. 

Bill was joined by his brother, Jason, in 1986, who spent his first 17 years in the company as a Service Engineer, and then moved into a sales role. Now Sales Director, Jason enjoys taking the time in getting to know clients, bringing forth the knowledge gained in his engineering days to offer a good insight into our range of products and services. 

40 years on, we’re proud to say that those who choose to work with us tend to stay with us – both customers and team members – with most members of staff sticking around after their apprenticeship and continuing to play a valuable role in the team. 

Having specialised in CNC machines since 2000, we have an extensive range available, and hold over 250 machines in stock at any one time, enabling us to offer immediate delivery and installation on most of the machines in our range.
